Group Finance Director – Insurance & Investments

About the role
The Group Finance Director is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing financial management, planning, reporting, controls, treasury and performance across the Group’s insurance, investment, asset‑management and other financial‑services businesses. The role provides strategic financial guidance to the CFO, CEO, Board and shareholders.
Key responsibilities
- Lead Group‑wide financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and performance management.
- Oversee consolidated financial reporting, management accounts, statutory accounts and financial analysis across subsidiaries.
- Drive FP&A, profitability analysis, cost optimisation and financial performance improvement.
- Monitor financial performance of insurance, investments, asset‑management and other businesses.
- Oversee insurance finance including premium revenue, claims, reserves, reinsurance and underwriting profitability.
- Lead reporting and accounting for investment and asset‑management portfolios, including valuation and performance reporting.
- Support capital planning, solvency, liquidity and balance‑sheet management at Group level.
- Manage treasury, cash, funding requirements and working‑capital optimisation.
- Strengthen financial controls, governance, policies and risk‑management frameworks.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax, insurance and investment regulations.
- Provide financial analysis for M&A, joint ventures, strategic investments and capital allocation.
- Partner with senior executives to improve profitability, efficiency and return on capital.
- Lead finance transformation initiatives such as ERP implementation, automation and digital finance.
- Develop and mentor Finance Directors, Controllers and senior finance teams across the Group.
Required profile
- 15–20+ years of progressive finance experience, preferably within insurance, investment or asset‑management sectors.
- Proven track record of leading large, complex finance organisations.
- Strong understanding of regulatory, capital‑adequacy and solvency requirements.
- Experience in financial planning, reporting, treasury and risk management at a Group level.
- Demonstrated ability to drive finance transformation and process automation.
- Excellent communication skills to advise C‑suite, Board and external stakeholders.
