Produce Department Manager

About the role

The Produce Department Manager leads the day‑to‑day operations of the produce section, ensuring a safe, efficient, and customer‑focused environment. You will drive sales, manage inventory, and develop a goal‑oriented team that meets company standards.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver excellent customer service and resolve complaints promptly.
• Schedule and supervise staff to maximise service and meet business needs.
• Maintain product availability, order stock on time, and ensure displays follow marketing directions.
• Monitor gross profit, investigate variances, and control inventory levels.
• Implement FIFO rotation, manage shrink, and keep the department clean and sanitary.
• Support advertising campaigns and seasonal merchandising.
• Maintain and calibrate equipment according to manufacturer guidelines.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing a produce or grocery department.
• Strong focus on customer service and ability to build relationships.
• Competence in staff scheduling, training, and performance development.
• Experience with inventory control, profit monitoring, and shrink reduction.
• Knowledge of food safety, sanitation practices, and proper product handling (FIFO).
