Senior Business Development Manager

About the role

Carey Olsen is seeking a Senior Business Development Manager to drive growth across its offshore jurisdictions – Bermuda, BVI and Cayman – with a focus on key markets in North and South America. You will design and execute strategies that generate new business and deepen existing client relationships, aligning with the firm’s Americas business plan.

Key responsibilities

• Act as a trusted commercial adviser to partners, providing market insight, pipeline intelligence and structured BD execution.
• Design, implement and monitor comprehensive business development plans for practice groups in Bermuda, BVI and Cayman, initially targeting investment funds, corporate/M&A, banking & finance and FinTech.
• Research, develop and execute data‑driven campaigns to identify new opportunities and expand market share in the Americas.
• Strengthen institutional client relationships, support intermediary programmes and facilitate cross‑selling across jurisdictions.
• Coordinate with the global BD team and other offices to ensure a joined‑up approach to multi‑jurisdictional opportunities.
• Lead pitches, RFP responses and client presentations, crafting persuasive proposals that win work.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of business development experience in an international law firm, with a proven track record at senior/manager level.
• Extensive experience developing BD strategies in the US market; knowledge of the LatAm market is a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to influence senior partners and practice heads and to deliver measurable campaign ROI.
• Bachelor’s degree required; MSc or MBA desirable but not essential.
