Director - Compliance Services

About the role

Waystone is seeking a senior leader to head its Cayman Compliance Services portfolio. The Director will hold approved AMLCO, MLRO and/or DMLRO appointments and provide strategic oversight for a diverse range of Cayman Islands investment funds and regulated entities.

Key responsibilities

• Accept and act in AMLCO, MLRO and DMLRO capacities for multiple regulated entities.
• Oversee AML/CFT/CPF and financial sanctions programmes, ensuring systems and controls meet Cayman Islands requirements.
• Monitor money‑laundering reporting functions, manage escalation and filing of SARs and compliance reports.
• Report to governing bodies on the effectiveness of AML/CFT/CPF and sanctions controls, highlighting risks and remediation actions.
• Provide strategic advice on complex AML, sanctions and proliferation‑financing matters.
• Lead governance frameworks for investment funds and other financial service providers.
• Drive regulatory engagement, independent audit coordination, board reporting and service‑quality initiatives.
• Develop the compliance team and support business growth.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in anti‑money‑laundering, counter‑terrorism financing and sanctions compliance.
• Proven track record holding AMLCO/MLRO/DMLRO appointments.
• Strong knowledge of Cayman Islands regulatory requirements for investment funds and SIBA entities.
• Demonstrated ability to lead governance, risk assessment, audit and regulatory liaison activities.
• Excellent judgement, professionalism, integrity and commitment to continuous learning.
