Tax Manager – Wealth & Asset Management

About the role

EY is seeking a Tax Manager to join its Wealth & Asset Management practice within the Financial Services Office. The role offers exposure to a diverse portfolio of hedge fund, private equity and mutual fund clients across multiple jurisdictions, supporting both compliance and advisory work.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate tax compliance and advisory engagements for asset‑management clients.
• Handle domestic federal, international, state and local tax matters, aligning strategies with client business objectives.
• Oversee tax compliance accounts for hedge funds and private‑equity funds, including preparation and sign‑off of K‑1s and partnership returns.
• Review securities analysis, partnership agreements and private placement memorandums for tax implications such as book‑tax allocations, stuffing provisions, and fee structures.
• Run day‑to‑day activities on multi‑location accounts and provide on‑call tax advice.

Required profile

• Strong technical knowledge of asset‑management tax, including fund structuring and compliance.
• Experience analysing trading reports for tax character, wash sales, constructive sales, straddles and other securities issues.
• Ability to interpret partnership agreements and private placement documents for tax consequences.
• Excellent communication skills to guide junior staff and interact with clients.
