Building Maintenance Technician

About the role

We are looking for a Building Maintenance Technician to join our facilities team in the Cayman Islands. You will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing a wide range of building systems to ensure safe, reliable and efficient operation of our Class A commercial properties.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain and repair mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire‑life‑safety and other building systems.
• Diagnose faults using schematics, manuals and blueprints and complete corrective maintenance efficiently.
• Assess equipment failures, determine repair or replacement needs, and source required parts.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and follow the DE Engineering Health and Safety Manual.
• Respond to urgent faults, perform root‑cause analysis and execute repairs.
• Inspect building exteriors, residential units, appliances, fixtures, pools and site features.
• Operate, maintain and repair HVAC, solar and lighting systems, identifying performance issues and implementing upgrades.
• Support contractor coordination, disaster preparedness and recovery activities.

Required profile

• High school diploma (or equivalent) with a valid trade licence.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in building maintenance for Class A commercial properties.
• Valid Cayman Islands driver’s licence.
• Ability to work physically demanding tasks, at heights, in inclement weather and outside regular business hours.
• Commitment to safety, continuous improvement and professional development.

Required skills

• Strong HVAC experience – chilled water and DX systems.
• Electrical, plumbing and fire‑life‑safety system knowledge.
• Pool operator certification and man‑lift operation.
• Proficiency with hand and power tools.
• Ability to read and interpret schematic drawings and blueprints.
• Solar and lighting system maintenance.
