Treasury Dealer

About the role

The Treasury Dealer will support Butterfield’s Treasury department in managing daily cash flow, liquidity and market activities across repo, money market and foreign exchange desks. The role involves direct interaction with internal teams and external counterparties to optimise fund utilisation and maintain regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with day‑to‑day operation of the bank’s repo, money‑market and FX books.
• Place and take funds in the repo and money‑market markets, ensuring adequate balances in correspondent accounts.
• Enhance returns on the bank’s funds while meeting internal and regulatory liquidity requirements.
• Prepare and publish deposit rate sheets for client‑facing teams and provide ad‑hoc deposit rates.
• Quote spot and forward FX rates to clients, monitor exposure and manage inter‑bank market risk.
• Support Treasury and client‑facing teams in promoting bank services and developing relationships.
• Assist with reporting, maintenance of client deposit interest‑rate structures and updating Treasury procedure manuals.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance or a related discipline (advantageous).
• Minimum three years of experience in money‑market and foreign‑exchange trading within wholesale financial markets.
• Previous front‑office treasury experience in a regulated organisation.
• Strong numerical, analytical and risk‑awareness capabilities.
• Ability to make fast, sound decisions under market pressure.
• High attention to detail, self‑motivation and excellent organisational skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
• Familiarity with treasury trading systems.
