Senior Counsel – Insurance

About the role

Our client, a leading international law firm, is looking for an experienced Senior Counsel to strengthen its Insurance practice in the Cayman Islands. You will lead high‑value mandates, advise global clients on complex insurance matters, and help shape the future growth of the practice.

Key responsibilities

• Lead complex insurance, reinsurance, regulatory and transactional matters for multinational clients.
• Provide strategic advice on governance, solvency, restructurings, M&A, captives, SPCs, PICs and insurance‑linked securities.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships while driving business‑development initiatives.
• Supervise and mentor junior lawyers, offering technical guidance.
• Collaborate with colleagues across international offices on cross‑border projects.
• Contribute to the strategic development and expansion of the Insurance practice.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer in the Cayman Islands or another Commonwealth jurisdiction.
• Minimum 8 years post‑qualification experience.
• Background with a top‑tier international or leading offshore law firm.
• Strong technical expertise in insurance and reinsurance matters.
• Proven leadership, client relationship management and business‑development experience.
