Software Engineer – Credit Card & Fraud

About the role

Ether.fi is looking for a Software Engineer to strengthen its credit‑card transaction and fraud‑prevention stack. You will work on the core authorization flow, reduce unnecessary declines, and build proactive defenses against fraud across the platform.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse declined transactions, identify root causes and implement fixes to improve the user experience.
• Design, implement and maintain fraud‑detection rules, scoring models and real‑time monitoring using the Sardine platform.
• Investigate live fraud cases, query transaction data, and translate findings into actionable controls.
• Collaborate with Product, Customer Experience and Compliance teams as well as external card‑program and fraud vendors.
• Develop internal tools, dashboards and scripts that increase the efficiency of risk and CX teams.

Required profile

• 4+ years of professional software development experience with a strong problem‑solving mindset.
• Product‑oriented attitude – you prefer fixing systemic issues over handling individual tickets.
• Comfortable working directly with data, writing queries to uncover patterns without relying on others.
• Genuine interest in adversarial problems and the ability to spot and explain abnormal transaction behaviour.
