Registered Midwife – Full-Time

About the role

The Registered Midwife will provide comprehensive midwifery and neonatal nursing care to mothers and newborns at Doctors Hospital in George Town. The role involves supporting families from conception through post‑natal care while ensuring high standards of safety and quality.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver clinical care throughout pregnancy, labor (including complicated births), delivery and post‑natal periods, including newborn assessment (APGAR, weight, head circumference) and infant feeding support.
• Maintain accurate documentation, uphold patient confidentiality, and contribute to audits and quality‑improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with physicians, surgeons, public health nurses and multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic patient care.
• Participate in unit meetings, training sessions, and act as a preceptor for students and new staff.
• Manage stock levels, adhere to hospital policies on attendance, dress code and professional conduct.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Midwifery (BScM) and Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) or equivalent graduate diploma.
• 3–5 years recent midwifery experience in a hospital setting.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; ACLS, Pediatric Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (PALS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications to be obtained within one year of start.
• Eligibility to work in the Cayman Islands (Caymanian or no immigration restrictions).

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) knowledge.
• Pediatric Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (PALS) competency.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) proficiency.
• Clinical assessment of newborns (APGAR scoring, weight, measurements).
