Patient Care Coordinator (Part-Time)

About the role

The Patient Care Coordinator provides outstanding customer service to patients and their families, ensuring they understand appointment details and financial responsibilities. The role includes collecting co‑payments at the time of service and supporting the hospital’s primary health‑care delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Register patients, schedule appointments, manage referrals and pre‑registration.
• Escort patients to and from appointments and confirm insurance eligibility.
• Answer phone calls by the third ring using standardized etiquette.
• Process co‑payments, deposits and post all patient payments, balancing the cash drawer each shift.
• Audit charts for correct demographics and insurance information, update addresses and generate patient statements.
• Educate patients and families on services, payment methods and arrange payment plans when needed.
• Ensure accurate CPT coding and assign correct co‑payment percentages.
• Support event staffing and assist Patient Services Team Leads as required.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent; 1‑3 years experience in a medical office or hospital.
• Diploma in Healthcare Administration or Medical Terminology preferred.
• Strong analytical, oral and written communication skills.
• Familiarity with health‑insurance guidelines and third‑party providers.
