Palliative Care Specialist Nurse

About the role

The Palliative Care Specialist Nurse will join Jasmine’s not‑for‑profit team in the Cayman Islands, providing free, compassionate care to individuals with life‑limiting or end‑of‑life illnesses. Working on‑site full‑time, the nurse will assess patients, develop personalised care plans and deliver symptom and pain management across home, hospice and clinical settings.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments of patients with serious illnesses.
• Create and regularly update individualized care plans focused on symptom control, pain relief and psychosocial support.
• Administer medications, monitor responses and adjust treatment in collaboration with physicians.
• Provide education and guidance to patients, families and caregivers about disease progression and advance care planning.
• Document all care activities in accordance with clinical, regulatory and electronic health‑record standards.
• Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences, quality‑improvement projects and community outreach initiatives.

Required profile

• Current RN licence (or eligibility) in the Cayman Islands.
• Experience in palliative, hospice, oncology or critical‑care nursing.
• Strong clinical assessment, care‑planning and symptom‑management abilities.
• Excellent communication skills with a culturally sensitive, trauma‑informed approach.
• Resilience and emotional maturity to manage challenging end‑of‑life situations.

Required skills

• Proficiency with electronic health records systems.
