Consultant in Intensive Care Medicine

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Consultant in Intensive Care Medicine to establish a small critical‑care capability in an internationally accredited private hospital. This is a rare opportunity to develop a high‑quality service that will provide short‑term post‑procedure care for cardiac, stroke and general surgical patients.

Key responsibilities

• Provide an intensive‑care service with responsibility for prevention, diagnosis and treatment of critical illness.
• Develop critical‑care pathways and protocols to support the new service.
• Participate in out‑of‑hours on‑call rota and cover colleagues’ leave.
• Engage in medical audit, clinical quality improvement and continuing professional development.
• Ensure data quality, compliance with hospital policies and administrative duties related to patient care.
• Participate in annual professional practice evaluation and complete mandatory training.
• Undertake any other duties as required.

Required profile

• Medical Degree (MD or equivalent) from a recognised institution.
• Specialist training in Intensive Care Medicine or Anaesthesia with Critical Care.
• Minimum of 5 years post‑residency experience in a high‑acuity ICU setting.
• Eligibility for medical registration in the Cayman Islands (registration without additional exams for holders registered in Australia, Canada, Jamaica, New Zealand, South Africa, the UK or the USA).
