Accounts Payable / Staff Accountant

About the role

Consolidated Water Co. Ltd., a publicly listed company (NASDAQ: CWCO) that designs, builds and operates seawater conversion plants and water distribution systems in Grand Cayman and the Caribbean, is looking for an Accounts Payable/Staff Accountant for its Finance Department. The position reports directly to the Controller and is open to suitably qualified Caymanians, Status Holders and Permanent Residents with the right to work.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate all accounts payable functions: opening mail, scanning invoices, managing the accounts inbox, entering invoices into the ERP system, reconciling vendor statements, processing electronic bank payments and issuing and mailing checks in line with company policy and deadlines.
• Download daily bill payment reports from multiple banks for the Customer Service department to process payments in the Cogsdale billing system.
• Review and reconcile daily bill payments and other transactions posted from the Cogsdale billing system to the bank transaction reports and general ledger.
• Assist with month-end close activities, including journal entries, general ledger account analyses and reconciliations, bank reconciliations, and monthly management reports.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned to support the Accounting Department.

Required profile

• At least 3 years of accounts payable and general accounting experience.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills and a thorough understanding of accounting processes.
• Solid understanding of accounting cutoffs and month-end processes.
• Ability to work effectively under strict deadlines.
• Caymanian, Status Holder or Permanent Resident with the right to work.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Excel.
• Experience with Microsoft Great Plains, Cogsdale and/or NetSuite is strongly preferred.
