Social Media Specialist

About the role

The Social Media Specialist will elevate Compass’ digital platforms by creating scroll‑stopping content for digital audiences. Working in a fast‑paced team, you will collaborate across digital, television and print to turn ideas into high‑impact journalism.

Key responsibilities

• Create engaging reels, videos, graphics, polls and live updates that reflect the brand and resonate with the local audience.
• Edit, write and publish social content that accompanies Compass website articles and television output.
• Produce short‑form video and text that translates complex topics into compelling stories.
• Write copy for newsletters and engage with followers, responding to comments and messages in line with company policy.
• Occasionally produce on‑location social posts and collaborate with newsroom journalists on digital projects.

Required profile

• Minimum two years of experience producing and editing social‑first content.
• Highly active online, tracking trends, formats and the news cycle.
• Strong storytelling instinct and ability to work under pressure.
• Confident directing journalists and interviewees when needed.

Required skills

• Proficiency in video and image editing tools such as Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro and Photoshop.
• Excellent writing, scripting, titling, editing and scheduling skills.
• Understanding of platform‑specific storytelling for YouTube, Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn.

What we offer

• Salary range CI$55,000 – CI$70,000 per annum.
