Legal Associate – Funds

About the role

To support the delivery of high-quality legal advice and client service across a broad range of matters, while developing technical expertise, commercial awareness and strong relationships with clients, intermediaries and colleagues. The position is based in the Cayman office of Ogier and focuses on investment fund matters.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain productive working relationships with clients, intermediaries and colleagues.
• Draft and review documentation relating to fund launches, ongoing maintenance and terminations.
• Understand and advise on regulatory obligations applicable to investment funds.
• Ensure timeliness of billing and debt collection.
• Manage time, effort and resources efficiently and maintain accurate time records.
• Contribute to Knowledge Management systems with accurate, current information.
• Take ownership of matters and workstreams, managing competing priorities and escalating issues appropriately.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with 3‑6 years post‑qualification experience.
• LLB (Hons) from a reputable tertiary institution, minimum 2:1 classification or equivalent.
• Relevant experience gained with a leading law firm in investment funds, private equity, regulatory advisory and/or general corporate and commercial matters.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Excellent organisational and time‑management abilities.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to recommend appropriate solutions.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent drafting skills with strong attention to detail and clear, succinct communication.
