About the role
The Learning and Behavior Support Assistant works directly with individual students and small groups to remove barriers to learning, improve behaviour and boost academic achievement. You will deliver targeted interventions, implement accommodations and promote a positive, inclusive environment where all learners can thrive.
Key responsibilities
- Provide academic and behavioural interventions, develop and follow individualized support plans, and monitor student progress.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents and external specialists, collect data on behaviour and learning, and communicate updates.
- Supervise students during classes, breaks and extracurricular activities, ensuring safety and supporting attendance initiatives.
- Maintain confidentiality, engage in professional development and contribute to a positive school culture.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) with at least three years of experience in a school setting supporting diverse learning and behavioural needs.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and organisational skills, with the ability to manage challenging behaviour calmly and consistently.
- Commitment to inclusion, empathy, resilience and a collaborative, proactive attitude.
